My journey to the other side of the world

Ah, where to begin… Well for starts my name’s Taylor, although probably the only people who will read this already know that. I arrived in the breathtaking country of Australia on my 22nd birthday. I’m here for the main purpose of studying abroad at Griffith University. I will be all finished with college after this semester and then it’s off into big-girl world for me (although I’m sure my wanderlust will delay that for a little while). I’ve always wanted to travel the world, Australia being my number one place to see, but as most people do I brushed it off with an “I’ll do it someday…”. But there was a time in my life, to which I specifically remember, when I was directly asked “why not now?” And ever since that question, to which I had no response, I have lived my life in a completely different way. I have accomplished things I never imagined I ever could. You want something? Go get it, damn it, and don’t take shit from anyone.

I think it’s of importance to note that I have grown into a totally different person now than when I walked into college (as I feel everyone should). I have met so many people, experienced love as well as loss, had my fair share of success and failures, and put up with things I now know I didn’t deserve. But through it all I’ve discovered that everything’s a lesson; as the cliché goes, you live and you learn. I wouldn’t change a damn thing, because here I am writing this post from a beach house on the coast of Australia.

So ultimately, that is why I’m here. To learn, to grow, to discover myself from the inside out. Who knows where it will all lead me, but I think Australia’s a hell of a place to start.

And with all that blabbing I'll just leave you with this…

"Three simple rules in life:

1. If you do not go after what you want, you’ll never have it.

2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no.

3. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place."

Cheers!
